Mark Liu, Vice President

Mark Liu is the Vice President of the Asian Business League of Southern California and a Partner in the Corporate practice group with Akerman LLP, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Mark’s practice focuses on Capital Markets. He represents U.S. and international companies and financial institutions in a wide variety of public and private capital markets transactions, as well as in M&A, joint venture or private equity investment transactions. His experience includes leading offerings of equity in initial public offerings (IPOs), secondary equity offerings, pre-IPO and venture financings, Regulation D, Regulation S and Rule 144A offerings, exchange offers, and other public and private equity and debt offerings, as well as cross-border M&A and investment transactions. Mark also counsels clients on a broad range of corporate, securities, and business-related matters, including corporate governance, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting issues, and corporate structuring and compliance. In addition, Mark frequently advises U.S. companies looking to expand their footprint in Hong Kong or Mainland China, as well as Asian companies with cross-border U.S. investments, capital raising, and M&A.

Prior to rejoining Akerman LLP in 2016, he spent three years working as a corporate attorney in Hong Kong, and as well as six years at Akerman’s Miami office.

Mark received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. Mark was born in China, speaks Mandarin and travels frequently back to Shanghai, Hong Kong and Nanjing.
